Work Experience : Warehouse volunteer

Do you want to make an impact in your local community? If so, we'd love it if you could assist us with collecting, storing, and distributing second hand furniture and household goods, some of which we sell at low cost to people on low income and some of which (c60 tonnes per year) we donate to people in financial crisis. This is a physically demanding role which will see you working with diverse groups of people. In return, we are a friendly team and provide lunch for our staff and volunteers, the quality of which depends on the cook, but if our superbly talented HR Manager (ie me) is cooking, the food is always excellent.

Work Experience : I.T. Recycling Assistant

We reduced digital exclusion in our community so that people can escape the poverty trap. Being digitally included helps people to pay their utility bills online so they can slightly reduce the costs of their bills and ensure payments are made on time, it also helps them to look for employment, make housing applications and engage with community activities. At NewStarts, we recycle unwanted I.T. hardware by sanitising the PCs/laptops we receive, before rebuilding them and selling them at low cost (£35-100). We also provide unlimited, 1-2-1, free training in basic IT skills and operate a low cost I.T. help-desk. Do you have good I.T. skills and a heart to help people develop their skills and escape poverty? If so, we're keen to hear from you.
