What process did you have to follow to get your job?

I wanted to do something different and thought I would be honest and tell my prospective employer that I was not fully experienced in a marketing role but had ideas of what I could do for the company.

What is great about your job?

I love that there is so many different parts to it, sometimes I may spend time in the office working on design and re branding looking at new ways to advertise, but then I can travel to exhibit with the sales team and enjoy chatting to people who visit our stand. There is always scope to experiment and try new things, I am lucky that my employer gives me the encouragement to do this.

What training do you receive in your role?

I have mainly had on the job training but also attended some independence training courses over the last couple of years.

What skills are required to do your job?

I think you need to be creative and learn to think outside the box while putting yourself in the shoes of a potential customer and talk about IT in a way anyone can understand. You need to keep learning and be prepared to act quickly to produce literature at the drop of a hat.

Do you require any role specific qualifications to do your job and if so, what are they?

I don't think you need specific qualifications but you need to have good organisation and time management skills, as well as great communication skills. You should enjoy writing and creating literature, so general English language is essential.
