Performance Through People offer a variety of apprenticeships for people of all ages across the Midlands. Job areas we cover include Accounting, Business Administration, Customer Service, Dental Nursing, Early Years Care, Health and Social Care, Retail, Hospitality, Warehouse and Logistics, Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales and Travel Services. We work with many local employers in a number of different industries, ranging from large national companies to small businesses. This means we always have a wide variety of apprenticeship job vacancies and can support you to choose and apply for the opportunity you think best suits your talents and career ambitions. Our Search and Select team will support you through the application and interview process. Once you begin your apprenticeship you will be assigned one of our highly qualified training advisers who will support you with off the job training and maths and English as required, making sure this is tailored to fit your strengths and build skills in areas where you want to improve. We offer clear progression routes through apprenticeships and can continue to support learners as they progress to higher level qualifications and more senior job roles. We have training centres in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Cannock and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Our Walsall centre includes a purpose built engineering training centre.

We are a training provider who offer apprenticeships, traineeships and other training courses for staff in a wide range of businesses. Our apprenticeships include Business Administration, Customer Service, Accounting, Dental Nursing, Early Years Care, Engineering, Hospitality, Retail, Warehouse, Travel, Health and Social Care and IT.

Describe what you do in your job. What is a typical day like?

To support the business and different centres around the West Midlands. To build good relationships with our customers and external organisations.

Was this your first job? What other jobs or work experience have you had?

My first job was working at B&M Retail as a Sales Assistant.

What process did you have to follow to get your job?

I worked in retail and call centres for my first 4 years of work. After this time I decided to sign up to an apprenticeship at the age of 19 (good choice!) and that is how I got my job at Performance Through People.

What is great about your job? What part of your job do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy helping others, internally and externally, and to make sure that the reputation of the business is only improving. It’s a great feeling when you get people into work month after month.

What training do you get at work to help you do your job role?

When I first joined Performance Through People I was completing my Business Administration Level 2 qualification, and after this I moved up to Level 3. I have also completed various courses internally with the company such as: Assertiveness, Telephone Techniques and PREVENT.

What skills are required to do your job?

Business Administration knowledge is the main skill that I need to do my job, however Customer Service also plays a big part in my role to build good relationships with customers and colleagues.

Apprenticeship : Dental Nursing Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is suitable for people working as dental nurses providing chair side support to dental professionals and delivering patient care. Dental Nurses may work in a variety of clinical environments and the apprenticeship reflects all aspects of clinical responsibilities and duties. Apprentices will work towards their Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. Each apprentice will be allocated a training adviser who will visit them in the workplace on a monthly basis to provide training and support and monitor their progress and the training they are receiving from the employer. They will also attend weekly half day classes at one of our training centres. Entry requirements for this apprenticeship usually include GCSE maths and English at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualifications. We offer a number of engineering apprenticeships, including Performing Engineering Operations and Performing Manufacturing Operations. These give a good grounding in engineering and manufacturing and are delivered either entirely in the work place through one to one visits, or through weekly lessons at our engineering centre. Apprenticeship : Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is suitable for frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives which is at the heart of person centred care. Job roles are varied and can be in many different types of the service including residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, a person’s own home or some clinical healthcare settings. Each apprentice will be allocated a training adviser who will visit them in the workplace on a monthly basis to provide training and support and monitor their progress and the training they are receiving from the employer. Apprenticeship : Retailer Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship standard is suitable for people working in a range of shops and other retail establishments. These could be small boutiques, large high street chains and supermarkets, as well as more specialist businesses such as funeral services and garden centres. The apprenticeship can also be completed by people who work in telephone, on-line and mail order retail. Apprenticeship : Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is suitable for people working in a variety of warehouse environments. The role could include taking deliveries, checking for damaged/missing items, storing goods, moving stock by various methods, picking/packing orders, loading goods for dispatch, maintaining stock records and documentation and cleaning. They should be safely using a range of equipment, machinery and vehicles, as relevant, such as mechanical racking systems, materials handling equipment (MHE) or fork lift trucks. Each apprentice will be allocated a training adviser who will visit them in the workplace on a monthly basis to provide training and support and monitor their progress and the training they are receiving from the employer. Apprenticeship : Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is suitable for hospitality team members working in a range of establishments, for example bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. The role is very varied and although hospitality team members tend to specialise in an area, they must be adaptable and ready to support team members across the business. Each apprentice will be allocated a training adviser who will visit them in the workplace on a monthly basis to provide training and support and monitor their progress and the training they are receiving from the employer. There will be classroom sessions for the enhanced content, including a technical certificate and food safety, licensing and allergen courses as appropriate. Apprenticeship : Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is suitable for people working in roles such as Assistant Accountant, Trainee Accounting Technician, Accounts Clerk, Cashier, Finance Assistant, Purchase Ledger Clerk or Sales Ledger Clerk. They may be working as an assistant accountant within practice or alternatively within the finance function of an organisation. Part of their role will involve assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. They may also be involved in regulatory financial requirements, such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations. Each apprentice will be allocated a training adviser who will visit them in the workplace to provide training and support and monitor their progress and the training they are receiving from the employer. They will also attend full day classroom sessions once a week for the duration of the apprenticeship.
